I read this book [No Trick Plays] yesterday in pretty much one sitting.   It had me from the first lines and pulled me inside Ellie’s world almost at once.  I found myself laughing out loud and even crying in sympathy with the characters.   The characters were very well drawn and very believable. The words that they spoke didn’t feel the least bit artificial or contrived.  One of the very best romance novels that I have read in a long time.  It was one of those books that when I reached the last page, I was wanting more.  Samantha Stone is one of the best new novelists to hit the genre in years.

No Trick Plays marries the joys of Persuasion with the bittersweet realities of contemporary life and best of all, it is fun while being clever. Ellie is a sparkling character: her first person voice is so intimate and honest, full of life and passion. And it’s offset with a really moving backstory. I can imagine a readership that will love this book so much.
